In January 2018, Dr. Kumar was awarded the prestigious DERMASEVA Award by the Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (IADVL) for his work on leprosy at their National Conference in Kochi, Kerala. This humanitarian award was given to only one dermatologist in India that year.
