Over the years, Dr. Kumar has provided his services at eight different organizations. While some centres are no longer operational, they were later replaced by new centres at different locations to ensure continuity of care. His commitment to humanitarian dermatology has remained uninterrupted throughout his career.

1. Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity – Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre

Jyoti Nagar, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow (1992 – Present)

This centre houses a 100-bed hospital for both male and female patients, a leprosy rehabilitation unit, a resident cobbler, and a Shishu Bhavan for abandoned and malnourished children.

2. Harbilas Bal Evam Mahila Chikitsalaya

Lucknow (1990 – 2020)

At this Children and Women Hospital, Dr. Kumar provided free consultations to approximately 30 to 40 patients per visit. The patients primarily included women and children suffering from various dermatological conditions.

3. Post Graduate Skin Centre, Base Hospital

Lucknow (1992 – 2020)

This MD Dermatology Teaching Institute benefited immensely from Dr. Kumar’s voluntary participation. Once a week, he presented one to two rare and interesting cases for academic discussion.

This initiative benefited students, faculty, and patients alike. Patients received free consultations from some of the best dermatologists in the region, while students gained exposure to complex dermatological cases.

4. Lucknow Dermatological Association

Indian Medical Association Bhawan (1992 – 2020)

Dr. Kumar voluntarily participated in monthly clinical discussions involving rare and difficult dermatological cases. These sessions included more than 20 leading dermatologists from Lucknow city and contributed significantly to professional knowledge sharing.

Other Centres of Free Humanitarian Service

Over the years, Dr. Kumar also rendered his free services at the following institutions. At each centre, he examined 40 to 50 dermatology patients free of charge during every visit.

  • 5. Cantonment General Hospital, Sadar, Lucknow
    Subsidiary of the Army Hospital (1998 – 2014) – Patients seen twice a week
  • 6. Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI)
    Lucknow (1999 – 2008)
    Dr. Kumar provided free dermatology services once a week for 9 years until the institute established its own Dermatology Department.
  • 7. Vivekanand Hospital, Niralanagar, Lucknow
    (2000 – 2002) – Free treatment for 40 to 50 patients once a week
  • 8. C.B. Gupta Agricultural University Rural Centre
    Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow (2015 – 2018)
    Weekly free treatment for university faculty and staff for 3 years

Dr. Vivek Kumar’s Medical Training & Qualifications

After completing his MBBS, Dr. Vivek Kumar undertook his internship at King George’s Medical College (KGMC), Lucknow.

He then completed his Residency in Dermatology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Subsequently, he earned his Post Graduate degree in Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) from the Medical College, Amritsar.
